Episode 33
Chapters Update: Holiday Homework
We hone in on how to locate the Chapters feature in the Fountain app.
This is an update episode, and so connects directly with a previous episode of Podcasting 2.0 in Practice.
If you are new to the subject of Podcasting 2.0, I highly recommend that you complete the Podcasting 2.0 in Practice course. This is basically a podcast series that looks at just one 2.0 feature – also known as a tag – at a time and teaches you what it is, why it’s good, and how to make it work. The course focuses specifically on how each feature can help podcasters with discovery, interactivity or monetisation – or a combination of the three.

Welcome back to Podcasting 2.0 in Practice. As I mentioned in the previous episode.
Claire Waite Brown:It is summer holiday time here in the Northern Hemisphere and a good opportunity for me to bring you a few updates to the Podcasting 2.0 features we learned about in the first series of podcasting 2.0 in practice. If you are new to the concept of podcasting 2.0, I do recommend that you complete the Podcasting 2.0 in Practice course.
This is basically a podcast series that looks at just one 2.0 feature, also known as a tag at a time, and teaches you what it is, why it's good, and how to make it work. The course focuses specifically on how each feature can help podcasters with discovery, interactivity or monetization, or a combination of the three.
For this update, we're looking at the Chapters feature, which was the subject of episodes 8, 9 and 10, and in particular the Fountain app. As always, I will be using art in the chapters of this episode to illustrate what it is I'm saying.
My Fountain instructions for locating chapters in episode nine were were to click on the icon of an open book on the play screen of any episode. That instruction is still correct, although the location of that icon has changed slightly.
I also said that you can click on any of the icons along the bottom of the episode play screen to be taken to a page displaying a list of tabs at the top. Those tabs no longer exist in the latest iteration of the app. Instead, the icons remain at the bottom of the screen, replacing the need for tabs.
What is also new is that the list of chapters now displays the chapter art, which it didn't do before, as well as the chapter titles and links as usual, so that's cool. Look out for a few more Fountain.
